Good friend/Fellow Marine
USA
Partners Forever, Semper Fi!
I was with Doc at the bridge when he was killed. I remember feeling so helpless after he was hit. Nothing could really be done to bring him back. During my tour with Doc, he was always full of life! I would like to share a story: Doc and I were sharing a foxhole. It was really hot that day. We were eating our C-Rats when I received a letter from a high school friend who was aboard a Navy ship off the coast of
Vietnam. My friend wrote in his letter that he was bored and about ready to cook his steak on the barbeque. I showed the letter to Doc and could see that he was getting disgusted as he read. After he completed reading the letter, he gave it back to me and stated "dumb squid". I laughed to no end. Doc was a good Marine and respected by all his peers. I know that Doc is in Heaven taking care of the Marines from 2/1. I know that God is taking care of him and know that someday we will meet up again. Until then, God bless. Dear Doc.
I "met" you through a mutual friend.Mike Rodriguez. I am certain he and others of those who served with you will drop in soon. There is a memorial to you in your hometown.I visited it through one of your buddies' websites. "That War" is over now.but there are still wounded left down here on the deck. Would appreciate your keeping watch.like you did so faithfully way back when.Thank you for taking care of the men of the 2/1.they all remember you. With all overdue respect, SandyV, Literary Pages Editor
